Tell Me Something I Don't Know

You Are Lavender

You are a sweet person with a very soft personality.
People become easily entranced with you. They seem to glow around you.
You have a quiet energy that can keep you active late into the night.
Even if you aren't the life of the party, you definitely keep the party going.

Don't try to reconcile the loud Lamborghini me with this. Your brain will seep out of your ears. Just know that they are both true.

A Progressive Woman

Back in March I mentioned running across a promo for the Hostess Race Divas in the grocery store. I've had the Race Divas as one of my alternating desktop wallpapers for awhile. I revisited the website last week and followed the link to Leilani Munter's website and made a very happy discovery on her blog. Leilani is a progressive!! That minister who fired a female Sunday school teacher because, "I do not permit a woman to teach or to have authority over a man; she must be silent"? Leilani ran down ALL of his contact information so that, well, I'll let her tell you. "Keeping in mind that Tim thinks women should remain silent, I gathered all of Tim's contact information so you, like me, can let Tim know how you feel." Yep, go to the blog to get his contact information. (I don't want to deprive Leilani of hits - and new fans.)

And how can you not love her personal slogan? RACE HARD. PLAY HARD. NAP HARD. You got it, sister. Now I want to go drive fast somewhere...

Zen Noir

Sometimes you come across an idea that is so perfect you almost can't breathe. For me, Zen Noir is that idea. (Weird, but true.)
A nameless detective, still mourning the loss of his wife, investigates a mysterious death in a Buddhist temple, but his logical, left-brained crime-solving skills are useless in the intuitive, non-linear world of Zen.

... the Detective’s logical mind is thwarted at every turn by his suspects' Zen thinking...

Detective: Where were you at the time of the murder?

Monk: What exactly do you mean by time?

Increasingly confused and unnerved, haunted by his dead wife’s ghost, and with his investigation going nowhere, the Detective finds himself drawn into a deeper, darker, more personal mystery, where he must confront terrifying questions about love and loss, which lead to a startling realization: the mystery he's there to solve isn't a murder at all, but the mystery of death itself.
You can check it out on IMDB and up the film's stats.

Props to Susan at Easy Bake Coven for the link.

Vroom Vroom

I'm a Lamborghini Murcielago!

You're not subtle, but you don't want to be. Fast, loud, and dramatic, you want people to notice you, and then get out of the way. In a world full of sheep, you're a raging bull.

My husband is a Porsche 911!

(I also come up as one if I change one answer - he says it fits better. Must be that Capricorn rising we share...)

You have a classic style, but you're up-to-date with the latest technology. You're ambitious, competitive, and you love to win. Performance, precision, and prestige - you're one of the elite, and you know it.

Tip o' the hat to Property of a Lady.

Career Suicide?

I assume that you've been up on the news enough to see that Paramount ditched Tom Cruise and then the head of Viacom pretty much called Cruise a looney. (There are conflicting reports and that's not a direct quote, but that's the gist.)

So I found it interesting today that the story got a new twist. Cruise's talent agency, CAA, is considering boycotting Paramount.

Based on reading the article I assume that they expect my reaction to be, "Dang, they're right. Paramount is evil and CAA should avenge Tom Cruise!"

Uh, no.

My reaction was immediately, "Lord, it's a whole passel of nutso Scientologists. I hope their boycott bankrupts them."

Somehow I don't think that was what they were after. I went from thinking that Cruise and a few other celebrities were off their rockers to thinking that a whole organization is probably nuttier than a case of Planter's.

Colbert Shares My Brain

Do you ever have one of those weird moments when someone does something you thought only you did? Sure, Stephen did it as a joke. But I really kept an album of my favorite print ads when I was a teenager. Yes, seriously. I dismantled it to use pieces in some Marketing class projects back in college, but most of it remains intact downstairs in my basement. My husband looked up during Stephen's bit and said, "Jesus, honey, he's you."

Colbert seems a bit surprised that there are no longer unifying ads like we experienced in our youth, so I guess I should have shared my Marketing paper from 1989 with him: "The Demassification of the American Market."

Call me, Stephen. We'll do lunch.

Northwestern Wins Over Yale*

Alexandra Robbins seemed like she should be cool, but then she totally didn't seem to get Stephen on tonight's Colbert Report. In her bio it says that in her spare time she "plays on three soccer teams, watches NFL games, bakes pies and reminisces about the original Star Wars trilogy." Did they not recognize each other's inner geek?

Alexandra, Stephen. Meet me in Orlando for Star Wars Weekends next Memorial Day. We can heal this rift.

*Stephen went to Northwestern and Alexandra went to Yale. I'm calling this one for Northwestern because Alexandra totally didn't seem to catch on that Stephen's show is satire.
