Immigration Day

In Chicago, illegal immigrants from Ireland and Poland marched alongside Hispanics as office workers on lunch breaks clapped. ~ AP
I'm fourth generation American on my father's side, with family coming over from Ireland in the late 1800s. As such, I'm mostly Irish with plenty of other stuff peppered in (German, English, a touch of Norge, and the rumor of some Native American on my paternal grandmother's side).

How about you?

  1. I'm welsh by birth, born of parents both english by birth - my mum's side entirely english, so far as I know; but my dad's side is mixed - half Polish Jews, half deriving from what is now Moldova, I believe. They came to the UK 3 generations back, I think.

  2. I'm mostly Irish, with Dutch (from grandmother) and Cherokee on my Dad's side. However, my last name originated in Normandy - my ancestors moved to Ireland and eventually made the move to the United States. The earliest record of an ancestor is a male who fought in the Revolutionary War. My great-grandmother was half-Cherokee.

My mom's side is a mystery because she was adopted.
